30% Energy Tax Credit Information

The Federal Government is offering a Tax Incentive for homeowners that make energy efficient home improvements. Most Geothermal Heat Pumps will qualify for this Tax Credit.

Florida Heat Pump has issued a press release outlining how the Stimulus Package will positively affect the Geothermal Industry and will increase Tax Incentives to homeowners and businesses that take advantage of Geothermal technology when installing or upgrading HVAC equipment.  You can read the full text of the press release here.

To make it simpler, we have provided links to commonly used forms below.  To find out more information about this Tax Credit, use the "US Tax Credit" button below.  Please note that the IRS form below is for the 2008 Tax Year.  The Tax Incentive for qualifying Geothermal Systems installed prior to January 1, 2009 are still capped at $2000.  Qualifying systems installed after this date, will not be subject to the $2000 cap.  You can download the necessary forms below.  If you prefer, the IRS tax form is also available at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f5695.pdf.

The state of Georgia is also offering homeowners who invest in Geothermal Heat Pumps a tax credit.  It is called the Georgia Clean Energy Property Tax Credit.  This program is being administered by Georgia Environmental Facitilites Authority (GEFA).  To learn more about this tax credit, click on the "GA Tax Credit" button.  If you are already familiar with the tax credit and want to download the pre-application, click on the "Pre-Application" button.
